White Death

White Death

  • Description
White Death, the Stalingrad of the North: The battle of Velikiye Luki in the winter of 1942-1943. The game begins with the massive Soviet offensive that led to the encirclement of the city of Velikiye Luki. The game contains over 450 counters, one 22x28 inch map and numerous charts. The rule book is a refreshing 19 pages with only 11 pages of rules. The remainder is designer notes and scenario descriptions. The game is produced by GDW stock no 814. The game uses an impulse turn system. Frank Chadwick's impulse system was later adopted and used in such games as Korsun Pocket, Black Sea Black Death and others. This game is not well known (I couldn't find it in the BGG data base) but it is a pleasure to play. It is a complex game and is designed for experienced gamers. - BoardGameGeek
